About me…

Ella Dabek was born and grew up in Poland.  During school years, art was her favorite subject. As a teenager, she came to the US with her siblings and parents.  It was a totally different world, new school, new home, no friends.  She missed Poland very much and Poland  will always be dear to her.
She was reading lots of books back then and this helped her to survive.  And also painting and drawing. She was able to immerse herself in her dreams, in her own world, and in her memories.

In college Ella discovered photography.  Back then you had to have a real camera and rolls of film.  Every picture counted.  She was fascinated especially with Black&White photos.

After college while having a normal job, her artistic nature would call her to get up in the morning to take pictures of sunrise or morning dew on grass.  Art was strong inside her.  She started to paint the silk scarves.  First only for herself and family and friends.  Went to NYC for a workshop.  She was hungry for more, looking for beauty and nature for inspiration.

One day in spring, Ella found a Milan Art video on YouTube.  She enrolled in the Beginner Course first to taste.  And after that she enrolled in Mastery Program.  She knew from the start, this was exactly what she was looking for.  Creating art become her passion.  It woke her up and she started to paint again and see it and feel it.

She loves God and knows He has a plan for her and she wants to use her unique talent from God she was blessed with to make people happy.

1 Peter 4:10 - “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others.”

She lives in South Dakota with her husband and a dog Romeo.  Family is very important to her. She has 2 lovely adult children and 2 precious little grandchildren.  She loves to travel.

Ella’s favorite Bible verse:

Isaiah 41:10 says, "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand".

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

I love creating abstract backgrounds that burst with color and energy, and then bringing them to life with playful animals or birds. My artwork combines expressive brushstrokes and textures to capture the magic of the natural world.

There is something mesmerizing about painting flowers - the delicate petals, the vibrant colors, and the way they seem to come alive on canvas.

I find joy in capturing their intricate details and I am constantly inspired by their beauty and symbolism.
Always contemplating the beauty of this beautiful world.
I walk every day, most times with my camera and a dog.
I try to enjoy every season but winter is my least favorite.
I love sunrises and sunsets, sun, lights and shadows, rain and foggy mornings.
There are different things to see walking at 7am than 7pm.
New perspective when you change the direction of the walk even on the same path.
It's incredible!

When I am painting, I don't have the complete source,
only part of it, so I have the freedom
to paint what will come to me during painting.

HAND PAINTED SILK SCARVES

Silk painting really stole my heart.  I started to paint scarves a few years ago with the intention of painting just a few for my family, friends and myself.  But it is so powerful experience watching how the colors blend together and come alive that I started to paint more and more.

My process:

I use wooden frames made by my husband to stretch the silk.  I hand draw the design first with a disappearing pen and then outline it with water soluble resist.

After that I paint and blend colors, let them flow.  When I am done painting, I iron it to set the colors in and wash it and iron it again.  Length of  process depends on the complicity of the design.

Sometimes I use dyes to paint.  Then I have to steam the silk for 3hours to set the colors in and then wash it and iron it.

Silk Scarves - they can be a nice accent on your arms or neck

or you can hang them up on the wall of your room as an artwork.
